AMRO is a 501(c)3 organization that operates solely on the donations of those who choose to support our work through monetary and other means. It is very heartwarming to retain the support of individuals, businesses, and families who are as passionate as AMRO is about the work we do on behalf of our favorite breed. AMRO highly respects the choice that our supporters make to allow rescue to continue working on behalf of the public and others, to not only promote adoption/rescue but to in turn offer education to those who are not familiar with the Malamute. Support through all avenues has permitted AMRO to branch out across Ohio through public events, kennel club shows and private fundraising activities.

All of the funds that we raise are directed to the care of the animals that are with our organization. Each dog that comes into rescue is:

  • Given a thorough examination by a veterinarian
  • Fully inoculated (includes distemper series combination, Rabies & Bordetella vaccines)
  • Heartworm tested and Flea control
  • Kept on monthly heartworm preventative while in foster care
  • Spayed/neutered
This is the basic care that each and every rescue dog receives. However, there are a few dogs that come to us that are in need of more advanced medical attention. Some of these examples could include: -a dog that tests positive for heartworm disease and needs to receive the treatment, which involves a 4-6 week period in which additional blood work and x-rays may be required to further diagnose the level of treatment; or, a dog that has need for a fecal exam with follow up treatment for identified parasites then a follow up fecal exam to confirm that the parasite is gone.

These are only some of the examples of what AMRO has encountered with dogs that needed further medical attention. The second biggest expense that AMRO incurs is the daily fees incurred to kennel a dog at a boarding facility when an open foster home is not available to take the dog into their private home.
