Featured Malamute

Keeley: is a beautiful 4 year old female malamute. She weighs anywhere from 75lbs to 85 lbs depending on if it is summer or winter. In the winter with her full coat she looks like she would weigh about a 100lbs. She as a very wonderful personality and is good with anyone. . Sometimes she doesn't mesh well with other dogs. Mainly dogs of her stature or bigger. She has always been good with smaller dogs though. She is very loving and likes to give lots of kisses. She loves walks to the point that they excite her and she will pull you at the start. Then she calms into a good walking pace.

As with all northern breeds, a fenced in yard is required for adoption.

PLEASE HELP US FIND HOMES FOR OUR REMAINING DOGS.

Alaskan Malamute Rescue of Ohio, Inc. is a non-profit, 501(c) 3 breed rescue organization that has been operating in Ohio for the past 16 years. Our organization is dedicated to the placement of Alaskan Malamute dogs given up by owners, taken into shelters and found as strays.

Most of the dogs that come into rescue are between the ages of 1 and 6 years old. Every now and then we will get a dog that is between 6 months and 1 year. We rarely get puppies. Most of these dogs were obtained by owners who thought they were cute, pretty, etc. until they grew up and got bigger than expected, became more energetic, started to shed and required a lot more attention. Some just get out due to lack of proper supervision or are dumped on the roadside, in the park, or in an empty field and are picked up by the local dog warden.

All dogs taken in by Alaskan Malamute Rescue of Ohio, Inc. are temperament tested, updated on shots, micro chipped and spayed/neutered. They are also treated for any other medical conditions they may have at the time including heartworm treatment.

Dogs are placed in foster homes to learn the habits of the dog and to work with them on any behavioral issues. They are also tested around children, cats, and other dogs to establish the type of home they will do best in.

If you would like to help Alaskan Malamute Rescue of Ohio, Inc. by being a foster parent, helping at fund raisers and events, by donating to our cause, or sponsoring a dog, please see the appropriate sections for more details. All of our dogs can be found in our Dogs Available section.
